School Fair

Alternative Education options

in the Greater Boston, Metro South, and South Shore areas

There is no one-size-fits-all way to learn.

There are lots of learning options that are not the traditional “do what you think everyone else is doing” neighborhood public school.

(And by the way, if that is what works for your child and family, that’s awesome! It just doesn’t work for everyone.)

The Alternative Education School Fair, happening on Sunday, May 3rd in Braintree, MA, brings schools, programs, and alternative learning opportunities together in one place so families can explore a variety of options.

Come meet educators, ask questions, and discover learning environments designed to support all different kinds of children and families.

If you’ve ever wondered whether there might be a different kind of school for your child, you’re not alone.

What You’ll Find

At the fair, families will have the chance to meet representatives from a variety of alternative education programs serving school-age children (roughly 5-18), including:

  • Microschools

  • Montessori schools

  • Nature or outdoor programs

  • Self-directed or democratic schools

  • Innovative or hybrid learning centers

  • Homeschooling programs, co-ops, or supplemental support

  • Alternative schooling families (unschooling, world schooling, etc)

Each school or program will host a table where families can learn about their philosophy, the ages they serve, enrollment opportunities, and materials to take home.

Who Should Attend

This event is for families who are:

  • Exploring part-time, hybrid, or supplemental alternative options

  • Considering a full-time alternative to traditional school

  • Looking for a learning environment that better fits a child’s personality, interests, or values

  • Wanting to talk with families who have experience outside the traditional education system

Whether you're actively looking for a new school or just curious about what exists beyond traditional education, this event is a welcoming place to explore. No pressure, no commitment — just a chance to learn what’s out there.

And by the way - your children are more than welcome to attend and explore with you!

What to Expect

Participating schools and programs will each host a table where families can stop by, introduce themselves, and learn more about what they offer. You’re welcome to walk around the space, talk with educators and families, ask questions, and gather information from any programs that interest you.

At the fair, you’ll have the chance to:

  • Meet school founders, directors, educators, and families

  • Learn about different educational philosophies and approaches

  • Ask questions about enrollment, ages served, and what daily life looks like

  • Discover programs you may not have known existed

This is a casual, welcoming event designed for conversation and exploration.

Join us on Sunday, May 3rd at 25 Brow Ave (the old Monatiquot Kindergarten Center) in Braintree, MA any time from 10am-2pm.
