ELEMENTARY
ages 6-11 (water)

Magical things happen when creativity flows.

Children learn best through curiosity - not conformity.  Elementary students LOVE school because having FUN and building a positive relationship with learning is prioritized in everything we do. (It helps that learning is individualized so they all realize how brilliant they are.)

THEIR SPACE

Without safety and comfort, they can’t truly learn

They always have the right to be alone or together

  • Community ‘living room’ shared space for when students want to be together - group work, reading, or hanging out on cozy couches

  • Individual spaces allow kids to ‘nest’ - creating a comfort area that can feel like their home away from home or give a private area to work if they want to be left alone

  • Flexible work areas set up around the room encourages independence, choice, and ownership over materials and space.

  • Themed rooms help them find their happy place (library, sensory room, building room, and art room are just some of the options they have throughout the day)

THEIR LEARNING

The relationship they develop with learning now sets the tone for the rest of their life.

Customized learning means that each student’s learning is:

  • Individualized: based on their learning style, personality, and interests

  • Self-paced: they learn at their own speed - as fast or slow as they want and need

  • Strengths based: from a multiple intelligence viewpoint so they’re learning in a way that works for them

  • Focused on character, self-awareness, and real life skills - interwoven throughout every day

  • Aligned with national and state curriculum frameworks (though not restricted by grade/age)

Students at Elements Academy learn in line with the Common Core and Massachusetts State Frameworks. It may look and feel very different, and the children may not even feel like it’s learning, but they are mastering skills at their appropriate level in each area.

THEIR SCHEDULE

They all complain the school day isn’t long enough…

We don’t always follow to the minute, but once we find our rhythm, it becomes our routine:

  • 9am - arrival settle in

  • 9:30 - read aloud

  • 10:00 - ‘challenge time’ (usually reading, writing, and math)

  • 11:30 - lunch

  • 12:15 - outside

  • 1:15 - project (science, history, etc)

  • 2:45 - clean up and close up

  • 3pm - dismissal (or after school)

Everyone is encouraged to eat, drink, go to the bathroom, and take a break anytime they need or want. (Yes, these are basic human rights.)

THEIR PEOPLE

Who do YOU spend most of your day with?

THE TEACHERS:

  • absolutely LOVE their job (and LOVE your children!)

  • are highly trained and up to date with child development, neuroscience, and pedagogy

  • are called by their first name because we model human interaction - kids don’t need hierarchical titles to have respect

THEIR PEERS:

  • LOVE school and LOVE learning! (yes, it IS cool to love school; at least, here, it is!)

  • are kind, curious, creative (and probably pretty spirited!)

  • will become like extended family

Does this all sound as magical as Disney?

It is! We promise.

(Actually, it’s even more magical - no lines or crowds!)

We offer year-round enrollment so it’s never the ‘wrong time’ to explore a better school for your kids.

Check out the admissions page if you’re super interested - we’ve been known to start kids within a matter of days if they need it.
